Sun Devil Soccer Falls to UCLA Saturday in Spring Game

Feb. 16, 2008

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State women's soccer team was back in action Saturday night as they hosted the UCLA Bruins for the second of three games being played at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium this weekend.

The Sun Devils and Bruins played an exciting match that went back and forth; however, the Bruins came out on top, 4-3.

UCLA got on the scoreboard first as Tina DiMartino shot one past ASU goalkeeper Briana Silvestri in the 11th minute.

ASU's Kylla Sjoman tied the game after firing a shot off of a free kick that found the top right corner of the net. Current ASU team member, Katie Cochran, played goalkeeper for the Bruins.

UCLA scored again before the first half ended to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.

The Sun Devils came out fired up for the second half as Alexandra Elston tied up the game in the first minute of action following the break.

The Sun Devils fired off several shot attempts before forward Dante Perea got her foot on a loose ball and scored to put ASU up 3-2 with less than 15 minutes to play.

The Bruins came back to score twice in seven minutes that sealed the victory.

ASU concludes the weekend as they host the Mexican National team Sunday at 7 p.m. at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium in Tempe.
