July 24, 2008

As the PGA's Canadian Opens begins today, there are nine Sun Devils teeing off in the 93-man field, including seven who played under current ASU head coach Randy Lein, who will enter his 17th season at ASU in 2008-2009.

The list includes 2003 NCAA champion and four-time All-American Alejandro Canizares (2003-2006), 1993 NCAA champion and four-time All-American Todd Demsey (1992-1995), two-time All-American Dan Forsman (1980-81), two-time All-American Matt Jones (2000-01), four-time All-American Billy Mayfair (1985-88), Jin Park (who played on three straight Pac-10 championship teams from 1998-2000 and earned Pac-10 honorable mention honors in 2001), Pat Perez (a key member of the 1996 NCAA Championship team), 2000 U.S. Amateur champion and three-time All-American Jeff Quinney and 2001 Public Links champion Chez Reavie (also a three-time All-American).

All but Forsman and Mayfair played under Randy Lein.
